CHECK OUT OUR BIRD FEEDER SLIDESHOW - WHICH ONE DO YOU THINK WOULD BE BEST?

WONDER

Yesterday we WONDERED how many birds are flying around our school.  So we went out and surveyed them,  We found out that in our Piako 2 Playground and outside the front of Piako 2 we saw no birds on the ground.  But over by where we eat lunch by Piako 1, we saw quite a few birds eating our lunch crumbs!  Aidan came to the conclusion that we will not need to put our bird feeders over by Piako 1 because the birds already have something to eat.  Clever thinking Aidan!

We found out that most birds we saw were up in the sky.  We decided we'd need to hang our bird feeders up high.

Next we brainstormed all our ideas about how we could help the birds.  We thought about who we could get to help us and we thought about WHY we should help the birds.  Savannah S came up with a great thought.  She said that unless we help them, there is no one else who can.  What insightful thinking Savannah.

BEFORE SCHOOL FUN!

Before school starts for the day lots of us like to do fun activities with our friends. Today Tiahorangi, Blake, Oliver W and Sean worked together to make this masterpiece! We were all very impressed at how much thought and effort went in to making it. Great job guys! We can't wait to see what you create tomorrow :) 

JUDGING AT HANDWRITING

The children that do Handwriting in the Rainbow Room have been all issued with a new Learning Intention.  This is so they know what they need to focus on when they are practising their handwriting.

We then judge our work against a set of criteria.  Here are a couple of photos of us a judging and a photo of Mingmae's beautiful work.

WE GOT A LETTER!

Mrs Helm came into today to deliver a letter for us.  

She said a funny looking little orange man came in and handed it to her.  

Mrs Helm had no idea who it was!

We opened the envelope and it was from the LORAX!!!!

He needs our help.  He has asked us to help make some new bird houses for the birds.  

The Lorax has heard that we are very Creative problem-solvers so he knew we'd be able to help.

He also sent us a book so we could find out why there are not many birds left.

We can't wait to get started...

MEASUREMENT!

We are learning to measure length using rulers.  

Yesterday we learnt how to measure things using rulers.  We even measured how long our shoes are!

 Today we measured toys.  

We had to measure a toy and then compare our toy's length to our friend's toy.

Some of us were even able to work out the differences between the toys,

You can help at home by giving us a ruler and getting us to practise measuring things around the house.
